THE ORIGINLE GUIDE
A person’s story supplies the clues. Originle is currently on hiatus, so this guide points to archived puzzles rather than promising a new daily guest.

Originle at a glance
Is Originle still a daily game?
Originle is currently on hiatus, and the official site directs visitors to its archive. Its original daily format still explains the game, but at this review date the appropriate starting point is an archived guest.[1]
Choose a past puzzle from the official archive. Its entries are dated, which makes it possible to discuss the same guest with another player without assuming that today has a newly published challenge.[2]
What country are you trying to identify?
The game introduces a real guest and gives you three country guesses, with eight clues that become easier as more are revealed. The official help makes an important distinction: identify the country represented through the guest’s roots and culture, which need not be the country where they currently live.[6]
That distinction changes how we recommend reading a clue. An accent, residence or familiar everyday habit can suggest a hypothesis, but it does not settle the answer alone. Try to connect several details from the guest’s account before selecting a country.
Use clues as a cumulative description of one person, not a checklist that every person from a country must satisfy. If two details seem to disagree, a different assumption about migration, family background or the meaning of “from” may be more useful than discarding one of them.
A thoughtful route through an archive puzzle
Watch the opening material, form a shortlist and reveal another clue when necessary. The official interface includes a globe for notes and shortlisted countries, separate from the action that locks in a guess.[6]
Our suggestion is to write down why a candidate fits before committing. If the reason is only an accent or a single recognizable food, another clue may be more valuable than a guess. A shortlist can hold several possibilities without spending an attempt.
Reconsider a country after new information instead of simply choosing its nearest neighbor. The game’s clues concern a person’s experiences and roots; a geographically nearby alternative is not automatically a better explanation. Look for the detail that distinguishes the candidates you still consider plausible.
Why the scoring differs between early and later puzzles
Check the help and current stake on the archive entry you select. The early and later official pages preserve their respective descriptions; quoting one fixed penalty for every Originle puzzle would erase that distinction.[3][4]
The first two archived puzzles
The official scoring implementation deliberately keeps the original rules for the first two puzzles: additional clues cost 1,000 points, with 1,500 for the last clue, and an incorrect guess costs 500. Later puzzles use a different schedule.[5]
From puzzle three onward
From puzzle three onward, successive clue costs rise in steps of 250, reaching 1,750 for the last clue, and each incorrect guess reduces the available success score by 30%. Scores begin out of 10,000. The puzzle ends on a correct answer or the third incorrect guess.[5]
For an illustrative later-rule calculation, a stake of 7,500 becomes 5,250 after one 30% reduction, before further clue costs. This is an arithmetic example, not an archive result or today’s answer. It explains why a wrong guess need not always display the same point penalty.
Share a deduction without revealing the guest’s answer
Share the archive puzzle number and your score or guess count first. Keep the country, recognizable screenshots and revealing cultural details out of a message to someone who has not finished. Afterward, comparing the clue that changed your mind can be more interesting than comparing raw points across different scoring versions.
If you want a different geography challenge next, choose one that changes the evidence you must interpret. Originle asks you to listen to a person; an outline or map-location puzzle tests a different kind of geographical recognition. That is an editorial comparison of experiences, not a claim that the games share a publisher.
Originle FAQ
Is Originle currently publishing a new guest every day?
At this review date, Originle is on hiatus. Its official site directs players to archived puzzles rather than promising a new daily guest.[1]
Does the answer mean where the guest lives now?
Not necessarily. Official guidance says to identify the country represented through the guest’s roots and culture.[6]
Why did a wrong guess cost a different number of points?
The first two puzzles retain a fixed 500-point penalty; later puzzles apply a 30% reduction. Additional clue costs also vary by rule version.[5]
