Place five locations on a 3D globe, then see how close your geographical memory really was.

MapTap at a glance
What is MapTap?
MapTap is a daily geography game in the nibble.games collection. The official game describes five world locations, with historical stories providing context. You rotate and zoom a 3D globe and place each location yourself. The task is spatial recall: knowing a place’s name is only the beginning.[1][3]
How to play MapTap
Read the location prompt, rotate the globe to the right region, and zoom for a more precise placement. The introductory tutorial demonstrates the controls before the real daily set. Complete the five locations and review the resulting score.[1]
Our suggested routine is continent, country, region, then point. Before touching down, decide what feature anchors your estimate: a recognizable coast, the tip of a peninsula, or a city’s position relative to a familiar bay. This gives an uncertain answer a reasoned location instead of a random-looking pin.
MapTap scoring and the 1,000-point maximum
The official FAQ awards up to 100 base points per location according to distance. Rounds carry multipliers of ×1, ×1, ×2, ×3 and ×3. A tap within 22 km earns full base points. The daily also has country and continent bonus floors; other modes handle those bonuses differently.[2]
Here is an invented scoring example: base scores of 90, 80, 70, 60 and 50 produce 90 + 80 + 140 + 180 + 150 = 640. Improving the fifth placement by ten base points adds thirty to the total. That arithmetic explains why it is sensible to keep concentrating through the later prompts.[2]
MapTap strategy: use relationships before precision
Our advice is to settle the broad geography first. If you cannot locate a town exactly, ask which part of its country is plausible and whether it lies inland or near a recognizable coast. A confident regional estimate is a better starting point than a precise tap based on a weak association.
Treat each reveal as a tiny map lesson. Compare where you imagined the location with where it actually lies, then describe the difference in plain language: farther north, across the bay, or on the opposite side of the island. One memorable correction is easier to carry into tomorrow than an isolated score.
Zoom only after you have found a stable reference. Excessive zoom can remove the coastlines that made the region recognizable. If you become disoriented, pull back until the larger landform makes sense, then approach again.
Daily reset, MapTap practice and past puzzles
The official FAQ says the daily changes at local midnight. The Prior Days page labels both its Best of collection and past-90-days area as MapTap+ content. The Practice Arena separately lists free practice maps and premium practice, including a personalized weak-spots option.[2][4][5]
For targeted practice, choose a narrow subject you repeatedly misplace rather than replaying only your strongest continent. For example, rehearse a set of capitals until you can picture their positions without looking up a map. That is an editorial training suggestion, not a guaranteed scoring method.
