Moonshot at a glance
What is Moonshot?
Moonshot is a category-answer game at moonshotdailygame.com with a space-travel presentation. It offers two free daily missions. The challenge is not merely naming something valid: you must decide whether the mission wants a very familiar response, an unusual accepted response or an answer at a particular rarity level.[1][2]
The publisher describes Moonshot as an independent project launched in 2026. Its about page explains that category lists begin with research and are subsequently refined using players’ responses. That is a description of this game’s ranking process, not a claim that every rarity score represents a universal survey.[2]
Common vs Blue Moon changes the goal
In Common vs Blue Moon, the first phase asks for three responses people are likely to give; the second asks for three unusual real answers. The official about page describes a 15-second clock for the common-answer phase. Read the current round’s timer and instructions rather than assuming both phases have identical timing.[1][2]
Blue Moon answers are specially selected. The official FAQ says they are chosen by hand and are not necessarily the mathematically rarest items in a category. An obscure but valid idea is therefore not automatically a Blue Moon. The live game must recognize the answer and place it in the appropriate group.[3][2]
What The Ladder asks you to do
The Ladder uses four spins to request rarity levels. Your job is to match the level shown, not simply to maximize obscurity on every attempt. Points become the distance your rocket travels. Read the scoring on the mission’s own report when comparing a Ladder result with a Common vs Blue Moon flight.[1][2]
An illustrative category such as kitchen equipment makes the change in mindset clear. One answer might be widely familiar, another known mainly to specialists. Neither is inherently the best choice: if the spinner asks for a middle rarity, both an extremely obvious and an extremely obscure response may miss the target. These are examples of reasoning, not claims about Moonshot’s accepted list.[2]
What happens when an answer is not accepted?
According to the official FAQ, a category has an accepted-answer list, and unrecognized responses can be submitted for review from the report. A wrong guess does not deduct points, but the time spent entering it still matters. Reopening a tab mid-mission is also described as resuming the flight where you left off.[3]
Use a specific name you can spell confidently, and avoid losing most of the clock to repeated variations of one uncertain response. If an answer seems legitimate, flag it after the mission with enough context for review. The absence of a points deduction does not make hesitation or unnecessary typing free.[3]
Daily resets, streaks and optional extras
Two missions arrive at local midnight, with the same date’s categories shared between players. Completing at least one maintains the game’s streak; the FAQ calls completing both a Daily Double and describes a 1.5 multiplier on the day’s score. Accounts are optional for daily play and are used to carry history and purchases across devices.[3]
The Flight Pass is optional and separate from the two free daily missions. Its listed extras include additional flights, crews, duels and removal of advertising. Free leagues are described as private leaderboards. Do not confuse a league’s individual score comparison with a crew’s shared activity, and check the current purchase terms on the original site.[2][3]
Plan one move ahead, not a whole answer script
At the start of a category, prepare a small mental ladder: an obvious example, a less immediate example and one specialist example. Reuse that structure when the goal changes, while accepting that the game may classify those answers differently from you. Afterward, learn from the accepted ranking rather than memorizing an imagined rarity formula.[2]
For a spoiler-free comparison with friends, share the mission name, date and final result before discussing the actual category answers. Comparing like with like matters here: a common-answer success and a rare-answer success represent different decisions.[1]
Moonshot FAQ
Is Moonshot free to play?
The official FAQ says both daily missions are free. Flight Pass extras are optional.[3]
Are Blue Moons simply the least-used answers?
No. The official explanation says they are hand-picked accepted answers and are not always the rarest items in the list.[2][3]
Do wrong guesses subtract points?
The FAQ says no points are deducted, but guesses consume time.[3]
Do I need an account?
No for daily play. The official account options support carrying flights, streaks and the pass between devices.[3]
