What is Krillion?

Krillion is an open-answer trivia challenge at krillion.io. Its daily instructions give everyone seven prompts, allow 25 seconds for each response, and permit one daily dive. Instead of identifying a single predetermined answer, you try to submit a valid example that earns a strong rarity score.[1]

The ocean descent makes the result tangible: each point is worth ten metres, and 700 points reaches a depth of 7,000 metres. A useful way to read the score is therefore as two views of the same performance, rather than separate points and distance objectives.[1]

How rarity works—and why a clever answer may disappoint

The official FAQ describes familiarity data for some prompts and assisted/manual curation for others. The special Krillion answer also considers discovery value. The explanation is not presented as a live poll of today’s players.[2]

Our advice is to separate validity from rarity. First ask whether the answer meets every part of the prompt. Then ask whether you can recall a less immediate example. A surprising response that fails the condition is a poor trade for a familiar response you can defend.

For an invented practice prompt such as “name a musical instrument,” think through families rather than searching aimlessly: strings, winds, percussion and electronic instruments. This is a method for retrieving possibilities, not a claim that any particular instrument appears in today’s answer set or carries a specific score.

A practical approach to the 25-second decision

Read the restriction before chasing an obscure example. A prompt about a place, person or object can turn on one qualifying word. Keep one safe candidate in reserve, explore a second candidate briefly, then commit while you still have time to check spelling. Do not spend the entire countdown rejecting every answer that feels ordinary.

After a disappointing result, diagnose one decision rather than memorizing a supposed universal tier list. Did you miss the condition, choose a particularly familiar example, or rely on a spelling variation? That review gives you something concrete to change on the next day without turning the daily game into an answers hunt.

The creator notes that answer lists can miss legitimate entries and that generous autocorrection can sometimes match an unexpected alias. A surprising rejection or correction is therefore worth checking against the prompt and the displayed result, rather than treating it as proof that your knowledge was wrong.[2]

The original game, creator and extra modes

The official FAQ identifies the developer as kp. Use krillion.io; similarly named sites may use different prompts or rules.[2]

The publisher’s menu separates the Daily dive from Unlimited and Archive. Its packs page also lists themed word, film, sports and geography collections. These are additional destinations, not a reason to assume that the daily quota has changed.[3]

The FAQ says a pack unlock removes site-wide ads; a linked Google account carries that benefit across devices. Check current prices and entitlements with the publisher.[2]

Compare dives without spoiling the prompts

For a spoiler-free discussion, share the puzzle date and your final depth, then talk about your decision process after both players have finished. Avoid posting the prompts or accepted rare answers in a group that has not played yet. The interesting comparison is how you searched your knowledge, not who saw the answer first.
